The Holiday Season is upon us and the easily poked at divide of the meaning of Christmas. Originally, when I started this strip tonight the whole poking fun at that divide was not an aspect of it but I included because well, I thought it was funny.
We could debate all day about the origins of Christmas from the so called “pagan” aspects and the later formed religious aspects which we derive the name from now. I would rather think about the spirit of the holiday and how I grew up on the happiness of waking up on that day and everything and everyone I knew felt a little bit closer...a little happier…Spending time with my family, my Cousins, Aunts and Uncles or playing football in the chilly air with Tom, Danny, Dennis, Harold, James, Edwin, Ryan, Big Brian, Little Brian and my older brother Bruce.
“Merry Christmas” is a phrase that brings me those memories and upon hearing them I feel like a wide eyed child again and I hope that feeling is infectious to those around me. To all: my family, friends, new and old, and to the people who I have yet to be graced with acquaintance, “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!” 
(I would be remiss not to mention other great football players and friends, Bobby, White Dennis, Crazy Dave, Dave, Mike, Jimmy, Keith, Kevin, Gabriel, Luther, John Moon, Eric, Battle, Pete, Bo, Van, Alan and the rest of the surrounding neighborhood kids that played sandlot football with us at Parker.)

Marry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I agree. Christmas is one of my favorte times of year. It used to be when my family (my mother, father, me, and my brothers) put all the bull aside and was a family. As I have grown older that idea has gotten farther and farther away. I realy do not understand why. I just hope that I can have just as good a Christmas with my new family that I used to have with my old.

@XIII: I hope you will be able to find that time again and I think you will have that same joy with your new family as well. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! :)
